The truth is that UK-Dance was declining even before it moved to the new site. The number of contributors had already dropped hugely and the page views were on a steady downward trend.

The UKD software was getting increasingly old and creaky so we've now moved across to something rather more modern.

well some have ... fwiw i dont think the list of uk dance twitter subs is very "representative of the diverse community".. ie: plenty on here dont use twitter.

The poll "Should UK-Dance profiles only be visible to logged-on members" has been closed. The results are: Yes: 13 votes No: 3 votes The total number of votes cast was 16.

To give some background to the move... UKD was previously running on a hacked together bit of software which while it looked okay from the outside was becoming more and more difficult to keep going.

Did Simon say 'mincing' meaning it as a slur though? I highly doubt it.

Some very sad news - uk-dance subscriber Nick Hardie passed away last night, after suffering from pneumonia since xmas.

Maybe replace the current news feeds taken from music sites with a feed of tweets from UKD people? Easily done. You could then respond to tweets on here if you wanted to.

Hello, goddamit! I'm still here, just very intermittently. Couple things tailed off Ukd for me - one was Simon going, the energy never really recovered after that I don't think.

hey, looking for a good pay as you talk sim. getting royally ripped off by vodafone (big surprise there) and want to switch.

I was approached last week by an old mate who used to work for Jockey Slut, who is now working with a new forthcoming music publication gathering articles for inclusion.

I'm not completely wedded to it as an idea... I just feel that Something Ought To Be Done instead of leaving UKD in its current state of mostly dead with occasional outbreaks of introspection.

Everyone's moved on to other places really - look at the feed of UKD people on Twitter and you'll see that's where a lot of the action is now.

You know, I should have just wrote "old ukd from way back when? Jesus, there will be some cringe worthy posts on there". On reflection though, I'm not that bothered - and nobody will be force fed it.

I still think it's a real shame that uk-dance has fallen into disuse.
