Both the original and enhanced e-mails include the code for the embedded videos in their HTML, but GMail and some other webmail providers strip them out because they could be considered a security...

To give some background to the move... UKD was previously running on a hacked together bit of software which while it looked okay from the outside was becoming more and more difficult to keep going.
