Progressive Soul is produced by Sub-Frequency Recordings. Darrell Hawkins and Birago Jones first started djing as a team in Washington DC in the early 1990's under the name DFC (Dance Floor Corporation). They enjoyed a number of high profile residencies that included clubs like the Fifth Column, Club Zei, Orpheus, Spy Club and many others. Their first remix was on DJ Jonathan Peters NYC label Deeper Records. Over the years, they have released a number of remixes and bootlegs with great success on small independent labels. Three years ago, they changed their name to SFR (Sub-Frequency Recordings).
Darrell Hawkins has traveled to dj a number of times in Estonia (Spirit/Club Tallin). One of his mix-cds was highlighted by Deep Dish, on the Yoshitoshi website. Birago Jones played at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami and was the headline dj at the American Grand Prix (in Miami). Birago hosted and dee jayed two popular parties in Miami, "Altitude" - the summertime rooftop party, and "Foundation". He was also part of the "Black and Tan Express" the Miami-based 5 piece band which blended soulful house music with live instruments
