Hillegonda Rietveld - May 2003

Lady Alma - Gotta Make A Move, Space Cadets mix

She's here again with her trade mark warm warm vocals, this time urging the guys to take some initiative if they want to share vibes with the girls. With Space Cadets in the mix, it has a DJ Spinna and the West London feel.

Sekouba Bambino - Decourage, Charles Webster mix

Charles Webster produces a multi-textured slice of dance-forever-material. The vocals are African, the mood is deep.

Harry Romero feat. Robert Owens - I Go Back

If you were clubbing in the 80s, you remember Mr Fingers. This tune is like a pastiche of that sound, but with contemporary production values and textural sophistication. A hit on the New York underground dance floor.

Carl Craig / Pepe Braddock - Angola

Although arguable, with admirable production on both sides, for me Pepe Bradock's dub is the one, with washes of sound puttiong you in a weirded out Latin American dream of the 21st Century. According to Tom Churchill, "the original song is actually by Cesario Evora (although it's not credited on the sleeve, it just gives the writing credit, to Ramiro Mendes)".

DJ Spinna feat Shaun Escoffrey - Music in Me

Here a classic US Garage track, simple, with nicely rounded bass and creamy vocals. Perhaps a bit conservative, but irresistable nevertheless - and this shows, I've heard that some people have been prepared to pay 15 quid for the test pressing!
