Well the weather held out.
Loads of environmental stands (as it was part of Car Free day) and stuff
for the kids. Nice touch that all the bars were giving out free water
and you could use their loos even if you hadn't bought a drink their.
A couple of live stages with the likes af Alabama 3 etc but didn't stick
around to watch any of the live acts.
Three main sound systems. Herbal, SecretSundaze and a Dub one which i
can't bloody remember the name of. The Dub one was excellent, one
knackered old deck, a massive effects box, toaster/MC and a guy playing
flute and Melodian over the top sometimes. The rig was excellent
soundwise, in fact I had to move on after a while as it was making me
ears whistle it was so loud.
SecretSundaze was absoulutely rammed. Loads of techy, electro house
with Ewan Pearson as the guest. Lots and lots of beautiful people
wearing the strangest and wildest clothes and everyone was utterly out
of it. At about 7 o'clockish two girls had a full on scrap (nails, hair
pulling etc) on one of the podiums which was funny. Been to quite a few
of the SS parties this summer but found it hard to get into this time.
The sound system was too quiet for my liking and in the end I was crying
out for some vocals or something a little different from the electro
house that was being played.
Headed over to the Herbal stage and stayed there for the rest of the
evening. been ages since i went to a full on jungle knees up and i
loved it. Swan E was on first. He has been on the hardcore/Jungle
scene for as long as i can remember but he still only looks about 12
years old:-), followed by Kenny Ken, Ray Kieth (looking great in a
Ronnie Corbet Pringle jumper) and then Grooverider (great line up when
you consider it was all free). Bit of a crap review as i didn't know
any of the tunes but I danced my arse off and Grooverider is still the don.
Loads of after parties etc but i was sensible as I had to go to work today.
All in all a great day
