With and open mind and not having read, listened to,
or seen any of the hype regarding The Scissor Sisters,
I went along to last nights local perfomance.
I have to say I was rather pleasantly surprised. The four
vertical stage lights, like giant LED peak meters, with a
full spectrum of selectable colours caught my attention
first.
Having not previously listened to any of their work either,
it was good to see that it wasn't long before the tunes had
a fair section of the crowd towards the back of the room
moving on their feet.
The band put quite a bit of effort into communicating with
the audience, especially the female lead vocalist, who had
a wicked sense of New York humour and raised more than
a few smiles and cheers from the audience between the
tracks.
The music was very professionally performed and the
musicianship polished. I'm unable to suitably pigeon-hole
the genre but, there were some stonking, dance music
influenced basslines and thumping bass during the second
half of the show which were much appreciated from where
I was a boppin' at the back.
