try this: put a breakbeat thru a noise filter such as Waves X filter..
take out the difference.. now normalise the "silence" audio - madness
.. obviously this works on anything.. but the great thing about doing it
on samples of real breaks is the instant live rhythm it gives you yet
you have the most metallic/synthetic sounds you could wish for
another: grab a stereo breakbeat... reverse only one side.. feel the
kick skip out of the snare.. nice init... a mate of mine I have shown
this to has nicked this and put it on a track on the new Bonkers
compilation! then had to cheek to tell me! :)
and one more: grab a breakbeat, copy it four times.. put it into a
timestretcher.. try going minus 12 to plus 12 over the four bar period
then copy the effected signal over the dry one... If you blend the two
carefully (it will depend on the break of course too) your beat will
build and build and build over the four bars without any noticeable processing
That was Wednesdays edition of Fun with Breaks. We'll be back next week...
