The Passion

Got round to watching 'The Passion of the Christ' finally today.

Of all things I was prompted by the latest South Park series, every
episode has had some reference to the film, and the most recent one is
called 'The Passion of the Jew'. It sees a Gibson-loving Cartman leading
a Christian's army against a Gibson-Hating Jewish mob. Until Gibson
turns up crazy as a march hare and takes on the persona of Christ, Mad
Max, and William Wallace at various points, then defecates all over Cartman.

Anyway, the Christians are having repeat viewing of 'The Passion' and
one couple comes out the cinema saying "I think if more people saw The
Passion, they'd have more faith in Jesus." "Yeah! It really guilt-trips
you into believing!". So I decided to see if the film was as awful as
Trey Parker seems to believe it is.

I'll say one thing for Mel Gibson. He knows how to make a point. You
sharpen bits of metal and stick them in Holy figures. Repeatedly. For 2
hours. Until the audience is visibly gasping and gagging in the aisles.
He managed to do more for the Scottish Nationalists in the space of 3
hours than 10 years of their campaigning, and with 'The Passion' he
probably has done more for Christianity than the Pope.

I don't mean this in a good way btw. With 'Braveheart' he got people
voting SNP by raising easily manipulatable Scottish people's hatred of
the English. With 'The Passion' he's repeating the same trick, basically
saying "if you don't love Christ after seeing (my vision) of what he's
went through for you, what kind of person are you?".

Mel Gibson is an idiot. I want him to be battered to death by an angry
mob and see how he likes it.
