dirty pretty things

From: Andy

okwe never sleeps thanks to some plants he buys. he sleeps on senay's
sofa and cooks for her, using a razor blade to slice the garlic
goodfellas style. okwe and senay are illegal immigrants. he does his
best to protect her from harm; from the immigration heads that are
following her from job to job, from the manager of the hotel they both
work at; okwe as after-hours front-desk, senay as cleaner. shortly from
kick-off, after okwe has inspected the owner of the taxi sompany for
whom he also works for an STD, okwe finds a human heart blocking one of
the toilets in one of the hotel rooms, a scene that kick-starts one of
the best films ive seen in a very long time.

i grabbed this as a postscript to watching amelie just after new year,
just to see what else audrey tautou had been up to. both her and chwetel
ejiofor (okwe) are brilliant. the story flows beautfully, and although
the twist could be sussed a mile off it wasnt strong enough to detract
from the story.

and its a love story which is what i need right now, crying into my
cheese sandwich.

and i didnt realise that fresh truffles were worth that much money.

im off to the black market. watch it.
