Not in my experience mate. It's dead easy to do video on an iMac. They
have firewire so you plug ya camera into that and capture/edit with iMovie.
iMovie's not got *everything* you could want but it pisses all over the
basics, including neat transitions etc. Great for family vids or basic
films. In fact by reducing the number of options available to you, it
helps you to focus on your creative message. Man.
If you get an iMac with a "SuperDrive" ie DVD burner you can burn your
films to watch on the telly too. (I aspire to this in a big way.) I
think the new version is about 1300 bigguns.

Sounds OK, maybe some more RAM needed, but if you stick with the PC
you'll definitely be needing a new external hard drive as vids take up
mega space. Get a LaCie 150Gb one minimum.
Not sure how a PC setup compares to the iMac in terms of cost/ease of
use if you stick with your PC though.
