i just love going to a page with a huge irritating blinking abortion of
a flash advertisment and nuking it with one right click.
with ad-block & firefox, pages that used to be not worth visiting
(hotwired, are you listening?) become an oasis of calm, with nice clean
white spaces where the banners and flash bits used to be.
you can use pattern matching for ad-blocking meaning that adding
"*doubleclick*" means that you will never have to suffer another
doubleclick banner fucking up your reading ever again.
you can even turn off the ad-blocking for specific sites if you are
feeling generous. its completely changed my browsing habits, and for the better.
plus for web development there are stacks of cool extensions for all
kinds of things php, cgi, javascript and css related. if you want you
can even rewrite the browser interface to suit your requirements. its
far from a geek browser though. almost everyone i've shown it switches
from IE, its that good.
