Frequently asked questions: Members

How do I create a member profile?

Anyone who posts a message in a discussion will have a member profile automatically created. To add your own information to your profile, click the Edit button at the bottom of the Members page and fill in the form.

How do I delete my member profile?

To delete your profile, click the Edit button at the bottom of the Members page and then the Delete button at the bottom of the profile form. Note that if you delete your profile it will only delete the information you personally added to it and remove it from index on the Members page. Information on the profile generated by the system will remain. However, if no further changes are made to your profile for six months then it will then be deleted.

My e-mail address has changed. How do I access my profile?

If your e-mail address has changed and you want to keep your old profile, please contact admin@uk-dance.org and they will copy it across for you. If you do not want to keep your old profile, just log on with your old e-mail address and password and delete it.

How do I get a photo to appear in my profile?

You must include the URL of your photo for a file in a suitable format: .gif, .jpg or .png. If you use any other URL then a link will be provided to that page instead or if you type something that doesn't look like a URL then that text will appear instead.

Why hasn't my track been included in the list of new mixes and music?

The system will only include new mixes or music tracks if they are for a URL that the system did not previously know about. If all you have done is changed the title or the order of the tracks in your profile then it will not appear as new.

Will I get spam because of my profile?

We have taken extensive measures to prevent spammers from being able to harvest e-mail addresses from the community. E-mail addresses of members will only appear in their profiles and using JavaScript encoding to prevent them being found by spammers. We can't guarantee that someone won't eventually find a way around this or that they will collect e-mail addresses manually, but we believe this is very unlikely.
