Rumours of UK-Dance's demise have been greatly exaggerated.
Mini review: Went to see DJ Derek play to people roughly a third of his age on Saturday night. Ace reggae tunes as always, but some questionable chat between some of them about him wishing he was soley responsible for the nations high rate of teenage pregnancies. Local legend.
We warmed up at the Big Chill bar beforehand where the music policy seems to have meandered up a bit of a cul-de-sac of late. It was a celebration of Stevie Wonder which, whilst commendable, didn't feel like cutting edge dance music and failed to draw much of a crowd. Sundays are looking best these days with the Purple Radio DJ's . I keep checking the event calendar for this bar and it's been leaving me non-plussed for a while. A bit of a shame really because it's a really nice venue, free entry and open late.

Nice one.
I'm listening to the new Matisyahu long player. Don't like it - he's gone all heavy rock banging on quite a few tracks. Whilst I liked the first album (despite the politics), I'd recommend avoiding this one.

I'm contracting around the corner from Big Chill Bar these weeks...(50 yards away) but always fail to check what's on. Weekdays only mosta the time.
Tonight I'm seeing Caribou at Heaven, and been listening to dance remixes of same all day. (He's mates with Four Tet and there seems to be a lot of mutual backslapping remixes going on between the two, plus a Sun remix compo with hundreds of entries). Anyone else going?

That's some corner! I should have said that I was referring to the Bristol Big Chill Bar
