More ambient than the others but it's very much a dystopian reply to Eno's work in 1978 – have a listen to the samples here: http://www.musicforrealairports.com/live/album.php

some gorgeous electronic sounds going on there... look fwd to getting this... and  I love this little quote "<snip> it captures the spectrum of emotions stirred by airports. There is tension and disappointment. But there is also romance and excitement" ;-) brilliant ;0)

Cheers Suddi, Airports are such a paradox innit.

The only time I drink gin and tonic is either in an airport/on a flight.

Doesn't surprise me. I like to see people having a drink at 5am but I also like watching the middle classes sneering at it as well – I guess we spend too much time just waiting!

Ordered and looking forward to it. I'm quite fond of Eno's ambient stuff, and I think you've got balls naming yours with reference to his.

The preview clips were intriguing and interesting but annoyingly too short. I was almost put off and - dare I say it - if it were anybody else I'd look for a download copy to have a listen to first before committing. However, you've not let us down yet, and I imagine the album needs considered listening in a darkened room, maybe with that gin-and-tonic :)

Well done for breaking the dance album pattern.

People only seem to order a Virgin/Bloody Mary when they are on a flight as well.

So true!  I've been the drinker, can't recall ever sneering at anyone.  <recalls Ryanair flights rammed with stag/hens> - actually forget I said that!

Airports are dead odd places though.  It's Catch 22 incarnate - "hurry up and wait."  Empty soulless places, with the flimsiest of frontages projecting restaurants, bars, shops, and humans being alternately hurried through and halted whilst displaying every positive and negative human trait available.  From the glory of the sunrise takeoff, to the blind faith/panic of the zero-visibility landing.

I love 'em!  Will try and get a listen through all the tracks - first few sound lush...

cheers,

dave

If the no frills airlines get their way you'll soon be able to fly online without going near an airport.

Thank you very much.

I've felt like updating it since 1979 but just didn't know how to really but once we started taking tBd on the road it made perfect sense to do an update as we spend so much time in airports now.

The preview clips were intriguing and interesting but annoyingly too
short.

I agree with you, they don't do it justice but at the labels request.

I was almost put off and – dare I say it – if it were anybody

Again, thanks – our rents just gone up so all direct sales go to pay that, which enables us to sit in the dark and make tunes.

However, you've not let us down yet, and I imagine the album

It's been road tested a hell of lot, it surprised us that people got "it" on the first listen. People have really taken to it, which is a great feeling but I'm still very nervous about it.

Well done for breaking the dance album pattern.

Thanks but we don't think it was ever an issue really.

If you sit and watch a lot, you see it often and comments like "How can they drink at this time in the morning". Having said that, we've have spent a lot of time in airports over the last 3 years, we have our own seats at the bar at EMA :)

LOL - that's another part of it especially for airport geeks like me - there's something strangely appealing about 3 letter airport acronyms, they become oddly evocative.  GLA is clubbing and sessions, EDI is drinking, stairs and closes, and countryside.  FKT means it's work, AMS means it's culture, CDG means you'll be taxiing all week.  LHR means moodiness sir, PIK and SNN mean your transatlantic bacon is getting saved.  SNA means sun and shops, SJC means foggy mountains and parking.  LAX means smog and 4-dimensional motorways, ORD means big shoulders and wind-blown shoreline.

I know most of those :)

Perils of travel :) - SJC of course is surfing - not my inexplicable 'parking'.  I blame kids terrorising my neighbourhood, plus having to scare a crowd of pushy and threatening neds off from my house at the weekend for the brainrot.

Anyway - after about 10 listens to the lot, vinyl ordered.  First music purchase in about 6 months, tough budgeting times - and first bd purchase ever, I think.  Looking forward to it!

cheers,

dave

Long haul economy is also a great leveller though. Sure one group can go to maccies/weatherspoons and the other the cavier bar but in that metal tube everyone is as one.

It's also amusing to watch people trying to blag upgrades which airlines rarely do nowadays, honeymooners and chancers not so much but it's when folk think that if they complain enough they'll get upgraded – the frustration and look on their coupon when met with heard-it-all-before professionalism satisfies no end.

Also, I enjoy when people are put in their place when not afforded the luxury of their nationality in other countries, especially when landing in the UK – "I don't care who you are or where you are from, get to the back of the queue" – :)

It isn't all schadenfreude though. I kinda enjoy departure lounges providing there are no delays, buy some smellies and a magazine you don't normally read but the consumer captivity can also do some strange things too eg thinking a Mulberry "documents holder" at 200 quid is a good idea and worthy purchase.

Cheers for the support and kind words Dave, rest assured it's going on rent to allow us to make more music :) We love EMA & BCN as we have our little places we go, even sit in the same seat – how English is that :)

All levelled by the £5 Duck Wrap :)

Never had one or tried to blag one, I'm happy enough in the back with the cattle, there's no way I'd pay 1.5K for a better seat.

See lost of people lose it in queues, I like to get up and get to the front as I like to know I have space for my bags etc, the other guys don't bother at all and pretty much laugh at me for it but I'm somehow compelled.

Longest delay we've had was 9hrs and we only buy smokes so we never really look at all the things we don't need/want/afford.

Prior to my own honeymoon, I did a bit of research and asking, putting on a suit, saying it's your honeymoon etc doesn't work anymore than if you were to ask for a car 2/3's more value than what you were paying in a dealership. Upgrades are now subject to intense data profiling and are given to frequent flyers, those collecting air miles etc as a teaser for customers that actually might buy these seats in the future.

Last flight I was on, I cashed in a load of air miles for business class, it was nice – business lounge, single malts, china plates and chairs like in the dentists but not worth any actual money out your own pocket. I used to ask for the bulkheads but that's where they put babies and infants. Now if I'm travelling with the missus, we pre book seats online either side of a row of three and hope nobody takes the middle one, usually works.

Btw, I like EMA too as it's either to EDI (football and/or piss ups) or IBZ (self explanatory)
