Profiles

It would be nice if some more people set one up. Just go to http://www.uk-dance.org/preferences/profile/ and enter what you want for any headings that take your fancy.

Polls

I'm going to get back into doing weekly polls again. If you want to add one just start a new thread, click on the Add Poll button at the bottom to enter your choices and then it will go in the queue for scheduling each Monday. There's a new poll in this message.

My activities

In case you hadn't noticed yet, if you're logged on there's a new section on the top right of the UKD homepage that lists recent messages you wrote and how many replies, so you can quickly see when you might want to follow something up.

Twitter

You can now get a feed of new thread by subscribing to @ukdanceorg (the usurpers who have ukdance.com took the other name first).

Nice one Stephen

RE the poll, I am still considering the implications on the rest of humanity of having my (and others') posts indexed by Google. I am not convinced it's a good thing. If it was, it should mean that UKD itself was not a members' forum. Therefore profiles should be minimal when seen by Google tbh

What we used to do was allow Google to index the knowledge section but not discussion. Could go back to that if people prefer.

Good to see the return of the polls as well.

Going back to the old system is my preference.

I think with an ever-shrinking membership, hiding things from Google is a bad thing.

This would appear to be an opportunity for a poll?  Personally, I have mixed feelings about posts here being archived by Google Corp. The danger is that I won't feel free to write so freely.

It has been quiet around here, but at least when it's quiet it's not because someone's stormed off in a huff, and everyone else is all 'blimey'.

It feels more like a companionable silence, less animosity.  I'm not really interested in a forum that only really gets animated when it's riled - there's enough 'potential energy' building up elsewhere [Dubai I'm looking at you] for me to seek refuge by dipping in to safe, familiar havens. Don't think UKD needs a whipping boy.

A shame really, that facebook has subsumed most other mini fora, I don't know if the filter mesh on fb is discerning enough to collate and bring together random UKD style 'rough diamonds'.  I'm looking for a facebook venn-spider hybrid 'ooh you'd like them' diagram I guess. Or something.

guess you get out what you put in.

I definitely talk more to UKDancers on FB and twitter than I do actually on UKD now.

This kind of post makes me want to permanently leave UKD, not a threat I think I've ever made before.

What-the-fuck.

Careful with the dog allegations though, could be costly. Remember Keith Lard, from what I thought was the best comedy of the noughties:

i don't remember - but funny story

so, just to be clear: reference to dog raping is pure ludicrity and is not meant as an accusation of behaviour, of noone in particular, past for future.

How do you explain that lipstick on his collar then?
