I need some new albums for winter listening.
Got the new Air album, s'ok but not as good as I thought it'd be seeing as the last one was such a return to form.
So, I'm after some folkish electronic atmospheric type stuff, any tips?
If all else fails I'll just return to Endtroducing. :-)
Cheers,
Roo
Volcano Choir - 'Unmap'
Sam and the Plants - 'The Eft'
The Notwist - 'Sturm'
The latest Wire Tapper (22) also has some great bits and pieces.

Rooster, chk the thread "Music to Melt you" - i rant about the greatest piece of music ive ever heard (imo) ;0 pop us an addy off list if u want cos after finding this i decided to make a comp of all different bands with a similar vibe
also, try out Never Never Land. Unkle. I (still) think it is one of the finest collections of songs Ive ever heard. Cannot believe it is not regarded as one of the greatest albums of all time.
Just remembered... this person who has been playing me loadsa new music played me something and asked me not to look at the screen (we were on Youtube) cos they wansted it to be a surprise. Guess who it was? Ben Folds Five... first time id ever heard anything by them... cant remember the name but ill find out tonight. bloody amazing record. I see what youve been harping on about all these years now ;-)

i feel slightly embarressed and I'm pulling a bit of a cringey face as i tap each key but the new James album is fucking amazing... no please, dont ban me! It is ;-)
Its called "Hey Ma" - it isnt just good, it is really something pretty spectacular. and I dont like James. "Sit Down" this is definitely not.
Roo.. Give it a chk out... it could be a Doctor Pepper.. but ive a feeling it might totally rock it for you (in an extremely mellow kinda way ;-)

Well, you've got plenty of time to plan it. Autumn started only 12 days ago, and Winter won't start until 22 December. But good luck planning for some winter listening, you should have plenty of stuff in for xmas.
Lord Borthbury
Problem with Spotify is that you are constantly streaming from their server so it's a complete bandwidth hog. It does however have a STAGGERING catalogue - I have been a heavy user in the past and it's found anything I've searched for... sometimes weird live or cover versions admittedly, but mostly on bad compilations.
It is good for checking out stuff once or twice, or if you want constant new music... but last.fm is good too, and the iphone app is free!
Also let us not forget the UKD shared community playlist.

If anyone wants to try it I have 5 invites left, not sure if you actually need them anymore though. Think you can just sign up on their site.

Odd, I've had real difficulty finding the music I want on it. Everything from Ulrich Schnauss to Coil and a whole host of Post Punk and Electro too.
This got posted on the Faith Forum and it really is a bit special:

Also very nice indeed and co produced by Radio Slave of all people!
That's the kinda gear I'm looking for to warm me cockles in the Autumn/Winter months.

Oh yes! Radioslave is one half of quiet village. The Quiet Village remix of Road of Life by FK was one of my tunes of 2008 I think...
