2009/9/7 steve the oneandonly <(Address removed)>

just back from festingho ,at last a dry festival.had a great time managed to say hi to kirsty "youngfree and available"chestnut but didnt manage to spot dub highlights

Twas lovely to see you, albeit briefly. And glad to hear you had a good time - everyone I spoke to said they were having the best weekend ever!

A short little review from me - I'm still feeling properly rinsed from our de-rigging till 5am Monday morning and I'm really not coping with being back at work.

Highlights:
  • the overwhelming majority of the Main Stage performers being amazing - friendly, talented and on time
  • the comperes - Kate, Bear and Mach V did an ace job. And Mach V got me tea. He roolz.
  • great massage on Sunday morning
  • Eddie and Erica - Stage Managing for the first time on the Harvest and Woods stages respectively. They did a great job and were lovely
  • Craig and Joe on Artist Liaison - always there when I needed them and absolutely brilliant
  • Adam and Jim on AV - again, always there sorting stuff out when we needed it, despite some challenges
  • James, head of security, looking after me after the accident
  • Chris and Will from GLS - entertaining and always making lights happen in a beautiful way. The lamp they rigged up for J'opkins was genius and the suitcase full of GnT and Rum and Coke made me laugh
  • de-rigging the lights in the Woods late into Sunday night \ Monday morning then muchos laughter around the campfire
  • seeing everyone having such a wonderful time - everyone I spoke to said they were having the weekend of their lives
  • Lucky Elephant - always a joy
  • Sam and the Plants - DIY music, really want to buy some of their stuff
  • Heather McClell - beautiful and lovely and a sweet, sweet sound
  • Jon Hopkins (due to Fletch's great monitoring set-up, it sounded ace even though we were in the 'Artists Enclosure' having a meeting)
  • Cookin' on 3 Burners (though they nearly missed their set!)
  • Music From The Penguin Café - makes an old Australian very very happy (and they were SO NICE)
  • and, above all else, the wonderful wonderful Main Stage crew, especially John, Jan and Fletch, who covered for me being on pretty rubbish form all weekend. So many of the perfomers mentioned how beautiful the sound on stage was and what a joy it was to play

Less than great things:
  • the injury on Friday - it really threw me (no pun intended) for the rest of the weekend, I never really got back up to speed
  • wasp bite in the throat on Saturday - see above
  • missing so much of the ace music cos either I was sorting out the next act or it was on another stage
