They are all hooked up to the big mixer desk so it is possible to have everything running at the same time and yeah we do jam with everything on. We've even used music played in a browser as a sound source.

It tends to be just one big practice session, like yesterday we had a lappy running some loops over and over, about four hour in I went over to the Nord and did the bassline and one pad, we kinda call it "living inside" the tracks. We then go back and tidy up. I should point out we have no either side of our studio :)
